MEET LACHIE

This is a story about DA WOK. Lach was diagnosed with CF at birth.

Lach spent most of his life keeping his CF a secret, embarrassed by the treatments and symptoms that set him apart from everyone else. It was always a struggle in his younger years keeping up with the rest as he played AFL and to hold the fitness to sustain a game/training was challenging enough let alone copping a common cold. It was like being sent back to square one.

Now, at 27, he is taking on a Half Ironman (2km Swim, 90km Bike & 21.1km Run) and aiming to get under 5:30hrs—not just for himself, but to raise money and awareness for cystic fibrosis. His journey from hiding his diagnosis to embracing it openly is a testament to resilience and hope. His goal is to inspire others with CF to push past their limits and believe in what’s possible.

All Donations would be greatly appreciated.
Why Now?

For years, I hid from my diagnosis. It was exhausting—constantly trying to push through without acknowledging the reality of living with cystic fibrosis. But after a lot of self-reflection, I realised something powerful: despite the challenges, I have never let CF stop me from achieving my goals. If anything, it’s fueled my drive to push harder, go further, and prove to myself that I am capable of more.

Recently, people close to me have told me that my determination and work ethic have inspired them to push a little harder in their own lives. That made me think—what if I could help even more people? What if I could show, through my own journey, that the odds don’t define us?

That’s why I’m taking on the Noosa Tri—not just as a personal challenge, but as a way to raise awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis Australia. If my journey encourages just one person to take that extra step, push past their limits, and realise what they’re truly capable of, then every step, every breath, every moment of this race will be worth it.
