The 16th Australasian Cystic Fibrosis Conference

We are thrilled to invite you to the 16th Australasian Cystic Fibrosis Conference from the 7-9 of August, an event that continues to grow in impact, insight, and inspiration. After a successful conference in Brisbane in 2024, we head to beautiful Geelong in 2026, where a dynamic new chapter awaits us. We’ll be coming together at the brand new Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention Centre, a stunning waterfront venue designed for connection, collaboration and big ideas. Operated by the team behind Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Nyaal Banyul brings the same world-class standards and expertise to Geelong, ensuring an exceptional experience for all attendees.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dedicated Medical and Community committees, who are working tirelessly to shape what promises to be a powerful and engaging time together. As always, the health and wellbeing of all delegates remain our top priority. We continue to uphold strong measures around COVID-19 safety and cross-infection risk management, especially for those living with CF. Please keep an eye on our website for detailed safety information.

See you in Geelong!

The 2026 Nathan Charles Long Lunch

The Nathan Charles Long Lunch is an intimate fundraising and community event hosted by Nathan Charles, Cystic Fibrosis Australia’s National Ambassador and the only person with cystic fibrosis to have played elite-level contact sport. The event brings together members of the CF community, clinicians, partners, and supporters for an afternoon of connection, storytelling, and impact.

The Long Lunch provides a unique platform to share lived experiences, celebrate progress in cystic fibrosis care, and highlight the importance of ongoing support, research, and advocacy. Through open and honest conversations, the event reinforces the strength and resilience of the CF community and the power of coming together to drive change.

The 2026 Long Lunch was a highly successful and meaningful event, attended by approximately 50 guests from across the CF community and broader network. Guests heard from Nathan, alongside a powerful panel discussion featuring his mother, Heike, and Pat, a father of a daughter living with cystic fibrosis. Together, they shared personal insights into the realities of living with CF and the critical role of family and community support.

The event raised over $10,000 through ticket sales and raffle contributions, an incredible achievement that will directly support Cystic Fibrosis Australia’s work in advocacy, research, and programs that improve outcomes for people living with CF.

Beyond fundraising, the Long Lunch continues to play an important role in strengthening connections, fostering understanding, and reinforcing the shared commitment to improving the lives of those affected by cystic fibrosis.

Nathan shared his incredible journey, offering powerful insights into his life, the challenges he has faced, and the resilience required to thrive against the odds.
