2021 ACFRT Top Up Scholarships

The Australian Cystic Fibrosis Research Trust (ACFRT) is pleased to announce that the Application Process is now open for PhD Top Up Scholarships for students starting their PhD work in cystic fibrosis (CF) related research in 2021. The Scholarships will be awarded for three years.

Because of improvements in the diagnosis, intervention and treatment of children with CF, many are now surviving well into adulthood. There continues to be a shortage of researchers in the CF field, including those carrying out work relating to adults with CF, comorbidities, diet, exercise, mental health and rare mutations.

The aim of the Top Up Scholarships is to stimulate scientists to maintain ongoing interest in CF research. Applications are particularly encouraged where research is being undertaken that has implications for people living with CF who are not well supported by existing research.

The recipient of each Scholarship will be required to provide an annual report to ACFRT on their PhD research. In addition, and where appropriate, the recipient may be asked to make a presentation at a Cystic Fibrosis Australia (CFA) conference (held every 2 years) in Australia.

The amount awarded under each ACFRT Top Up Scholarship will be $15,000. A $5,000 payment will be made to the Scholarship winner during each of the three years of their PhD work, subject to satisfactory progress with their research.

Please let your friends and colleagues know that this Scholarship is now available. The closing date is 5pm (AEDT) on Friday, 5th November 2021
