Make a Wish Foundation

Children between the ages of 4 and 18 who, in the opinion of a medical specialist, are suffering from a life-threatening illness, may be eligible to receive a wish. There are no waiting lists - all eligible children can receive a wish. Children who have already received a wish from another wish-granting organisation (eg Starlight Foundation) are not eligible to receive a wish. Eligible children under the age of 4 may receive a wish box, a selection of age-appropriate toys.

Starlight Escapes: Starlight Escapes offer families a break from the stress of a child’s illness. By providing simple, unexpected entertainment such as a night at the movies or a picnic in the park, the Starlight Escapes program brings families together and gives them a much needed rest from the hospital and treatment rooms.

Starlight Express Vans: The Starlight Express Van program ensures that children living in regional and remote areas have the opportunity to experience the magic of Captain Starlight throughout the year as the van travels across Australia.

Inside the vans are everything Captain Starlight needs to stage an entertaining show, including a Karaoke singing quest, a magic show, trivia or a face painting competition!

 

Starlight Wishgranting: A Starlight Wish is like a dream come true for a seriously ill child.  Sharing a special, once-in-a-lifetime wish brings a family together, and is an experience that stays with them forever.  Starlight aims to grant more wishes each year for children with serious and chronic illness.

Livewire: Starlight has developed Livewire, a secure online community connecting 10 to 18 year olds living with serious illness or disability. Livewire is a place where young people can make friends with their peers facing similar challenges. Livewire offers:

  • Chat room and messenger – meet other members and special guests
  • News, reviews, interviews – get the latest on movies, music, celebs and sport
  • Community forums and blogs – join in on or read forums, or start an online diary
  • Comps and activities – there’s games, activities, and cool prizes to win

    Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is an independent, non-profit organisation, that seeks to help seriously ill children and their families lead happier, healthier lives.

     

    Ronald McDonald Learning Program: The Ronald McDonald Learning Program provides seriously ill children with a second chance in life by helping them catch up with their missed education and reach their true potential.

     

    Ronald McDonald House: They provide a ‘home-away-from-home’ for families of children with serious illness, along with the support of experienced House Managers, volunteers and other families in a similar situation.

     

    Family Retreat: Offers a place for families with a seriously ill child to enjoy a holiday together, take a break from the stresses of hospital and deal with their new life situation.
