How you can add tomorrows to the lives of people with cystic fibrosis
All proceeds from CFWA’s fundraising activities go directly towards providing services to individuals affected by CF and their families. We want to help more people living with CF in WA and we can only do this with the continued support of our community. You can help us by:
· Placing one of our collection tins on a supervised counter
· Setting up a workplace giving program for your staff
and match their donations
· Placing a CF merchandise kit in your office
Fundraising Event Ideas
Consider organising one of these events as your next fundraiser: quiz or trivia nights, casino nights, coffee mornings, lunches, dinners, cocktail parties, auctions, dress down days, fetes, school discos, shopping tours, sports days, winery tours, murder mystery nights, car rallies, karaoke, concerts, cheese & wine tasting nights, mega book fest, market days, lamington drives, party plan evenings.
Coffee mornings. CFWA can provide you with “Coughee” mugs to give to everyone who attends in return for a minimum commitment of $6 in fundraising per person. Ask us how.
Lamingtons, cookie dough, chocolates, fudge, slices and pies! Anytime is always a great time of year to run a lamington, cookie dough or pie drive. It can be a simple one to run too - send your order forms around and before you know it you will have raised extra funds.
Quiz & trivia & casino nights. Traditional fun favourites and everyone loves a quiz night! You can value add by selling hampers, having an auction and selling food and drinks. We can provide you with raffle tickets and merchandise to sell on the night too.
Market stall/ party plan evening. An event like this is easier to organise using Facebook. At such an event, you invite party plan operators and local businesses to sell their goods or take orders, and CFWA receives a portion (usually 10 or 15%) of takings.
Mega book-fest. An event for selling books, games and jigsaw puzzles that are all donated by families can be a very profitable fundraiser. It is essential to put up prominent signs several weeks in advance and consider holding it over an entire weekend. For a smaller group, consider running it for the mornings only. If you expect a large crowd, think about running a sausage sizzle as well.
'Guess How Many' competition. Fill a big jar with mixed, wrapped confectionery, and charge $1 for a guess or 3 for $2! It’s easy, simple, fun and the prize is the jar of confectionery. This type of competition works well when combined with existing events like quiz nights, sausage sizzles, morning teas etc. You can do an adult version of this for your end of year entertaining evenings, but fill the jar with different items.
So many ways to fundraise: Books, Bottled Water, Calendars, Calico Bags, Candles, Greeting Cards, First Aid Kits, Gift Hampers, Gift Wrapping, Memorabilia, Movie Tickets, Perfume, Personalised Books, Raffles, Soap, Socks, Sunscreen, Swimwear, Tea Towels, Toys, Wine.
Tips:
When fundraising, it always helps to let people know more about what the money is going towards. Your results will be greater if your supporters 'buy in' to your goals rather than giving you 'go away' money. Don't forget to update your supporters afterwards with your results. For a summary about what Cystic Fibrosis Western Australia does, please email marketing@cysticfibrosiswa.org or call Ariane on (08) 9346 7336.
When asking people to pay to attend a fundraising event, always add a donation line below the registration cost on the RSVP slip – it gives you a chance to raise even more money before the day.
Incorporate participation and incentive prizes into your fundraising event such as a 'highest seller' prize. Be careful that the winning prize is not inappropriately large, as this can motivate people to take risks or become obsessed with winning.
