Patient transport assistance schemes

Most Australian states and territories have a government funded scheme to help subsidise the cost of travelling long distances for specialist medical treatment.

Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme

The Victorian Government Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme (VPTAS) subsidises the travel and accommodation costs for Victorian's who have to travel long distances to access medical specialist services or specialist dental treatment.

If you travel more than 100 kilometres one way or an average of 500 kilometres a week for one or more weeks to your treating CF Centre you may be eligible to apply for support through VPTAS. Find out more at the Victorian Government's VPTAS website.

NSW Isolated Patients Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme

The NSW Government Isolated Patients Transport and Accommodation Assistance Scheme (IPTAAS) subsidises travel and accommodation costs for patients from NSW who need to travel lengthy distances for specialist medical treatment.

If you live more than 100km from the nearest treating specialist or your combined trips to and from the specialist exceed 200 kilometres a week you may be eligible to apply for support through IPTAAS. Find out more at the NSW Government's IPTAAS website.
