The Nightingales

The 'CF Nightingales' are a committee of 8 women who are dedicated to raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis Victoria. Each has a strong background in nursing and all are very aware of the challenges faced by those living with CF.

Statement of Purpose

  • Working with CFV and the CF community to increase public awareness of Cystic Fibrosis
  • Fundraising for CFV for specific projects to support children, young people and adults with Cystic Fibrosis and their families         
  • Providing funds for research for Cystic Fibrosis

Fundraising activities include

  • Charity Balls and Dinner Dances   
  • Fashion Parades, Trivia Nights, Film and Trivia Nights  
  • Celebrity Breakfasts, Cooking Demonstration and Gourmet Country Luncheons    
  • Film and Theatre Nights
  • Annual Fun Run - 'Running for Cystic Fibrosis'
  • Calcutta Nights, Casino Days and Shopping Trips
  • Recipe Book, Spring Bulb, Book & Card Sales

Major achievements include

  • Pilot funding for the Royal District Nursing Service 'Home Care Support Programme' for the Cystic Fibrosis Community
  • Raising awareness of CF by staging the 1991 'Great Aussie Run', a 17,500 km run around Australia with the Melbourne Fire Brigade Running Club
  • Funding a Project Officer for Cystic Fibrosis Association
  • Purchase and refurbishment of Respite Cabins at Ocean Grove and Inverloch for use by the CF community
  • Provision of funds for CFV's stress relief weekends for parents of children with CF
  • Funding for a play ground for patients at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne 
  • The donation of $20,000 to purchase a car for the CFV Community Support Worker (2003)
