Information and advocacy

Information, support and referral line

Contact us via the information, support and referral for more information about CF.

Advocacy services

We advocate for the CF community at a local, state and national level and liaises with other organisations to lobby for improvements for those living with CF. CFV also works one-on-one with individuals providing support for self-advocacy as well as advocating on behalf of the individual.

Education support

We provide a range of education support services to support students, families and teachers to help students stay engaged with education while they are away from school. These include:

  • Access to the Education Support Coordinator for educational support and help with liaising between students and schools.
  • Information sessions for staff at schools and day care services about CF.
  • CFSmart website and resources for teachers, parents and students.
  • E-learning for teachers to learn about CF.
CF carrier screening

We are dedicated to raising awareness about CF and the availability of CF carrier screening Australia-wide. We also provide CF carrier screening grants for siblings and partners of individuals with CF.

Conferences
Speakers program

Our speakers program provides speakers who can share their own knowledge and experience of CF with community groups, schools, sporting clubs, tertiary institutions and businesses.

One on one support

Peer support links people with CF and their family with other community members so they can speak to someone who understands CF.

Support while in hospital

Our hospital visits provide us with a chance to drop by for a chat and drop off a Brody and Ellie’s Helping Hand boredom buster bag.

Annual remembrance ceremony

Our remembrance ceremony is held each year to remember the lives of people lost to CF.

Subsidies and financial support

Health and wellbeing

We provide financial assistance to help with some of the cost of services and equipment that are needed by people with CF to maintain their health and wellbeing. These include:

Support for individuals in regional Victoria

We provide accommodation support for hospital stays in Melbourne for regional families. 

Time out
  • Take a Break grants provide support for people with CF aged 21 years of age or older to get away and have a break.
  • Happy Family grants provide support for low income families to have a day out or escape for a weekend away.
  • Holiday cabins are located in three locations across Victoria for the use of people with CF, their families and members of CFV.
Conference attendance support

We will be offering a limited number of grants for members to help with the cost of attending the 2017 Australasian CF conference that is being held in Melbourne from 5-8 August.

CF carrier screening support

CF carrier screening grants provide financial support toward the cost of CF carrier screening to siblings and partners of individuals with CF.

Emergency assistance

CF-related emergency financial assistance is available for urgent CF-related needs at times of crisis, during lengthy hospital admissions or following sudden changes of health.
