The Awardee for 2010 is Sharon Simonds, she received $4,500
Sharon Simmonds from the Childrens Hospital Westmead“Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes – screening, management and treatment”
Over 18 months, Sharon reviewed the current Childrens Hospital Westmead screening protocol and to make identifying the number of patients with impaired glucose control more effective. She presented the results of this study at the Australasian CF Conference in Brisbane in 2009 and will use the Technipro Allied Health Fellowship to attend and present her findings at the North American CF Conference in Baltimore, Maryland in October 2010.
The results presented will be directly relevant to a number of large clinics internationally. She will also gain further experience in the screening and management of CFRD by visiting two pioneering CF centres as part of this trip.
Cystic Fibrosis Australia would like to advise Applications for the 2011 Allied Health Fellowship are now being taken. We invite all Allied Health professionals involved in the care and treatment of people with Cystic Fibrosis to apply. The award for 2011 will be announced in September 2010.
