"My Time" – Supporting Parents of children with disabilities
My Time groups provide local support for mums, dads, grandparents and anyone caring for a child under school age with a disability or chronic medical condition. These groups give parents a chance to socialise and share ideas with others who understand the rewards and intensity of the caring role. My Time works by bringing a group of carers together and getting them to choose topics to discuss and explore with their group facilitator, while a play helper keeps children busy and active. The Spectrum Organisation
Looking for a cheap fun way to get the kids active and exercising on the weekends, well the Spectrum Recreation and Fitness Centre in Lawnton is definitely for you. Each Saturday morning this centre runs a program called Kidstuff that is not only fun, energetic and physically beneficial it will improve your childs overall fitness, coordination and interactive skills. Activities include ball games, circuit training, abseiling, canoeing, and bike riding. Kidstuff T-shirts will be provided for regular attendees. Taking the NAG out of Excercise DVD
Finding it hard to motivate and encourage your children and teenagers to participate in regular physical activity? Most of us are seeking new ideas and tips. Available now, free of charge, from CFQ is a great DVD about programs and different approaches to exercise and CF. This DVD was put together by Matthew Tallis and Ryan Black who are both physiotherapists at Mater Childrens Hospital and gives some great ideas and demonstrations about how to keep kids active and excersising and emphasizes the importance of this in treating CF.
