Cystic Fibrosis Queensland

Sibling Activity Days

During 2010, CFQ will continue to provide one day adventure activities, for siblings during the school holidays in major regions including, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay and Townsville.

These activity days provide siblings with the opportunity to have some respite and to take part in a whole range of activities that encourage fun, adventure and leadership qualities whilst also learning individual skills in a supportive and therapeutic environment. The children leave with an understanding that other children share similar issues in living with cystic fibrosis.

The activity days have been organised during the school holidays to provide access to all siblings throughout Queensland to activity days.

The activity days include group activities, skill development as well as a therapeutic aspect to recognise and support siblings.

An adult with CF is invited to attend to help out during the planned activity days. Not only does this give the kids a chance to meet an adult living with CF from their area and interact with them, but also hear about the kind of things their brother or sister can achieve from adults who are living full and very exciting lives. They are also given the opportunity to ask any questions they have about living with CF.

Do you have a child aged between 7 and 15 years who doesn’t have CF that might be interested attending a day like this?

If so, please contact the support staff at CFQ and let us know because although we have a lot of information on our clients with CF unless parents tell us about their siblings they may be missed in the mail outs advising families about these upcoming events.
