Bookshops
Cystic Fibrosis Queensland operates two second-hand bookshops in Nundah and Salisbury. The bookshops sell all the ex-library books from the 33 Brisbane City Council (BCC) libraries on a contractual basis with the Lord Mayor's Community Trust.
We also receive many private book donations and consequently the Nundah Bookshop operates as one of the largest second hand bookstores in South East Queensland.
Manager Tony Sherwood runs the two bookshops, assisted by Mitchel Inglis as well as dedicated volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering at either bookshops and would like further information please contact Tony Sherwood on the details below.
At any one time there is large quantity of books available for retail sale with many in reserve. The CFQ bookshops conduct “50% off sales” 3 times yearly, usually in April, August and December. If you would like to be placed on an email list advising of sales dates please email us at bookshop@cfqld.org.au and place in the subject line “Please advise of sale dates”.
We have a comprehensive range of subject matters and because of a large inflow of books from BCC we are unable to maintain a data base and ask customers to come into the shops and do their own searches in well categorised sections.
As at October 2011, the following price list applies for both bookshops but is also subject to change without notice:
Fiction/Non fiction
All Hardbacks or paperbacks $3.50 each or 7 books for $20.00
Junior
Hard/Softbacks $2.00 each or 10 books for $15.00
Other
Most Magazines 50c each
Some specialist, pictorial, military, history and others are priced individually.
We have in stock a large range of large print books and sell bulk lots at further discounted prices to nursing homes and retirement villages. We are also happy to negotiate good prices for bulk lots from our children’s range.
Proceeds from the two bookshops benefit Cystic Fibrosis Queensland and The Lord Mayor’s Community Trust.
