In Hospital Support for children with CF and their families

We provide Boredom Buster Bags for children while they are in hospital. Email services@cfqld.org.au to request a bag. Include your child’s age and gender.

School support

We respond to referrals from schools requesting assistance with cystic fibrosis related issues. Education about cystic fibrosis is also provided to teachers who are preparing for the first time to have a child with CF in their class.

Mothers Retreats

These are annual weekend retreats for the mums of children with cystic fibrosis.

Siblings Days

Cystic fibrosis affects all members of the family and we understand the importance of creating retreats for the sibling of children with CF. These retreats will not only be loads of fun but will also provide information about living with a sibling who has CF.

Phone Support

We respond to requests for information from our clients from across Queensland, northern New South Wales and the Northern Territory, our mobile support number is 0437 798 484.

Advocacy

Cystic Fibrosis Queensland is able to provide individual level advocacy with external organisations when a client is not able to achieve their desired outcome.

Rose Cottage

Family members may stay at the cottage if they have a loved one accessing medical treatment in Brisbane. The cottage is a three bedroom house in Chermside, purchased for CFQ by a group of north Queensland families. Rose Cottage has more than 95% occupancy per annum and we have preferred supplier agreements in place for alternative accommodation if Rose Cottage is unavailable.

Equipment Provision

CFQ provides essential medical equipment such as airway clearance devices and nebuliser consumables on referral from hospital physiotherapists.

Equipment Loans

We lend travel nebulisers and portable oxygen concentrators to clients and families. We also have a Wii Fit system available for loan for a one month period.
