Support Services
CF places heavy financial, emotional, and physical demands on parents and young people with CF. We provide assistance in a number of ways:
- Hospital visiting
- Advice and assistance regarding entitlements
- Counselling-Qualified Social Workers provide outreach counselling at critical stages such as time of diagnosis, when health is declining and at the terminal phase of the condition. Bereavement counselling is also offered.
- Family Support Program - Family Support Workers provide practical support and treatment in the home, which includes help with chest percussion. Training is provided to field staff from the Home Care Service of New South Wales to enable them to assist young people with CF and their families.
- Youth Program -Qualified Social Workers assist young people who wish to achieve an independent lifestyle. Advice is given about eligibility for government support and advocacy is provided when necessary. Relevant information on parenthood is available and recreational activities are organised to conform with cross infection policies.
- Equipment Program-Families are assisted with purchasing equipment needed for home treatment such as nebuliser pumps and physiotherapy tables. We also have physiotherapy tables and lightweight travel pumps for hire.
- Financial Assistance Program-People with CF and their families are assisted with the extra costs involved in CF care. These can involve long periods of hospitalisation and visits to Sydney’s CF Specialist Centres. Please contact us at 9878 2075 for more information or if you need assistance.
