The Shack at Shoalhaven Heads
APEX Cottages for Children who have either Chronic Illness or Disability
Shoalhaven Heads is a popular tourist destination on the south coast of NSW. The ‘Shack’ is a beautiful and useful complex of 6 two-bedroom holiday units.
Each unit comprises 2 bedrooms, bathroom (fitted for wheelchairs), fully equipped kitchen and living/dining areas with colour TV, outdoor BBQ, shared laundry. The units sleep 6 people, with cots and high chairs in every unit. Bring your own food, drink, sheets, pillowcases, sleeping bags, bath towel and pillow.
The complex is in the village and 200 metres from the beach, which is good for fishing, but swimming MUST be between the flags, near the Surf Club which is about 400 metres south of the Shack, otherwise swimming can be dangerous. A local council pool is about 400 metres from the Shack and has a hoist for people with a disability. Local facilities include take away food stores, chemist, greengrocer, bakery, butcher, post office, newsagency, lawn bowls, tennis, golf. Hotel and bowling club provide entertainment and family meals.
There are approximately 6 weeks per year available to CFNSW families. The weekly fee is $200. However, based on need, CFNSW may contribute all or half of this fee.
Holiday homes in Ulladulla and Rosedale
Nestled between the mountains and the sea on the beautiful South Coast of NSW are a number of holiday homes available to families with CF. Each family can stay for a maximum of seven days and must be referred by a social worker.
