Terrys Tidbit
Welcome to the first newsletter from CFA. 2009 was a very productive year for our major projects. Firstly, the data registry is making great strides. The release of the 2008/2009 Data Registry Report is imminent, and our ultimate goal is to report within 12 months of year-end. Statistics from these reports continue to indicate that we are making headway in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis.
Mitch Messer, president of CFA; and I have been in constant communication with Bill Shorten from the Department of Disabilities and Children’s Services. Our talks focused on a health care card for people with CF over the age of 16 not in full time study. It just doesn’t make sense to stop providing healthcare for these people right when their health becomes more complex and expensive to manage. Unfortunately the government bean counters and policy committee do not see it this way and have told us they will not be making an exception. We are now forced to make this a political issue during the campaign leading up the next federal election.
We are making changes for 2010 and introducing some new events. Projects include a music festival at the Mogo Zoo on the 1st of May, a Golf Day hosted by Director and media personality Tim Webster on the 4th of May, and a Christmas-in-July luncheon held at the Tura Golf Club on the South Coast. Watch this space for future developments on these projects.
As always, I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to, our national sponsor LJ Hooker. We welcome Mr Leslie Janusz Hooker the new executive chairman, and I look forward to working closely with him and his team. Warm regards, Terry Stewart Chief Executive Officer
