29/May/2009

Cystic Fibrosis Australia celebrated the opening of its new office on Friday 29 May 2009 - 65 Roses Day. “I am only too happy to be part of 65 Roses Day and officially open the new offices of Cystic Fibrosis Australia.” said Lachie Turner.

“From a young age I’ve played rugby and have always been fit and active, so if I can lend a hand to a charity that aims to help kids lead a better quality of life, I’m happy to be involved.” he said.

Sydney born Turner’s Super 14 career started with a bang in 2007 when he picked up the Australian Rookie of the Year Award and has continued to skyrocket over the last few years with 2008 seeing his test debut against France, along with selection to the Wallabies Spring Tour and also inclusion in two matches for Australia A in the IRB Pacific Nations Cup.

“As Lachie is the epitome of health he is a great reminder to kids living with Cystic Fibrosis that looking after your heath and getting involved in exercise can lead to great things – for Lachie a test guernsey playing for Australia, for kids with Cystic Fibrosis, a longer more fulfilling life”. said CFA's CEO Terry Stewart.

Also announced on the night were the results of the 2006 Australian Cystic Fibrosis Data Registry by CFA President Mitch Messer.

Official guests included Ryde Mayor Vic Tagg, CFA President Mitch Messer, CFA CEO Terry Stewart and completing the festivities Lee J Collier sang the beautiful chart toping single “65 Roses”.  The night was presided over by MC Stephen Sims.
