Cystic Fibrosis in Australia has benefited enormously from the ongoing support of the LJ Hooker network since the first donation of $50,000 back in 1998. Over the last 11 years the ongoing relationship and support by LJ Hooker has meant that over $3 million for Cystic Fibrosis Research has been raised.

LJ Hooker offices nationally are also fundamental in raising awareness of Cystic Fibrosis within their local communities, through fund-raising activities such as golf days, balls and sausage sizzles, as well as supporting Cystic Fibrosis Australia’s national fundraising and awareness campaign 65 Roses Day.

The Cystic Fibrosis Australia – LJ Hooker “Partnership in Caring” was recognised by the 2005 Prime Minister’s Awards where LJ Hooker received a certificate for “Excellence in Community Business Partnership”.

Financial contributions made by LJ Hooker go towards research and has also helped the development of the Australian Cystic Fibrosis Data Registry, which was officially launched in Canberra in May 2006 by the Hon. Tony Abbott, Minister for Health and Ageing.

The Cystic Fibrosis Data Registry is the first comprehensive electronic data registry to aid researchers and clinicians in delivering the best possible treatment to young people who have Cystic Fibrosis. To find out more about the Australian Cystic Fibrosis Data Registry go to “Projects” under the “CF Australia” tab on the home page. To find out more about the Cystic Fibrosis Research go to the “Research” tab found on the home page.

With the support of the LJ Hooker network so much has been achieved, but more money continues to be needed to channel into research projects so we can look forward to future success.
