Fundraiser Spotlight

Each newsletter we will bring you a fundraising story on our Fundraiser Spotlight section. These are by no means the only fundraiser stories that we could print. In fact, we could post hundreds of fantastic and dedicated efforts that have supported us. If you are one of the many that support the fight against Cystic Fibrosis, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.
If you have a fundraising story that you think should be shared, email us at facebook@cysticfibrosisaustralia.org.au.
Tell us about what you’re doing to raise funds for research and services for Cystic Fibrosis Australia
Well Team 65 Roses fund raising efforts are focused around two major events and some other initiatives. The first event is an auction night on the 17th of September to be held at the Clifton Hill Hotel in Melbourne, and the second will see around 60 runners participating in events on Melbourne Marathon day (October 10), these events include the marathon, half marathon, 10km run, 5.7km run and the 4km walk. Other initiatives are a major raffle which will be drawn at our auction night, a chocolate drive and sale of race singlets.
Do you have a link to Cystic Fibrosis?
My initial exposure to CF was through having a friend with the condition, my knowledge and further desire to help was enhanced during my current physiotherapy studies.
How are preparations going for the event? I understand that not only are you training for the race, but efforts have also gone into finding media coverage and sponsors
Preparations are going really well at the moment I think (laughing), this is the first time I have ever attempted anything like this, but to date I feel everything is going really well. We've managed to land one major sponsor, Kieser Training, who have been wonderful with their support of Team 65 Roses. I'm also in the process of contacting some of the local papers to get some more exposure and awareness in the community of CF and Team 65 Roses' efforts. As for personal preparation for race day, that is going well. I'm going to drag myself around the half marathon, so I have been pounding the pavement quite regularly.
Will we be lucky to have the 65 Roses Team as an annual entrant in the Melbourne Marathon?
I'm really quite keen to conduct annual events of this nature to continue raising funds for CFA, if not the Marathon something else of similar nature.
