Hi All
Thought you may like to know that Lachy has just left today on a school trip to Europe. They will be visiting WW2 battlefields as well as some fun stuff like Eurodisney. They're going to England, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Turkey.
He has taken his box of medications and pep device and will be looking after himself for three weeks!
It will be very strange for me not to be reminding re pills enzymes and pep. A bit of a holiday for me too I guess!
I'll let you know how he gets on. _________________ Fran. Mum to Michael 19 (no cf) Tim 17 (no cf) Lachy 15 DDf508 |

Hi Fran,
I've just pm'd you but would love to say again how great it is that Lachy has gone to such a fantastic place in the world and I am sure he will be absolutely fine with everything - I guess it feels like he is 'all grown up' so to speak!
We wish him all the fun and laughs in the world and I can't wait for Tia to be doing the same thing one day with all her friends. I think it is awesome.

Is this the St L's trip that Liz was telling me about as oursix year old daughter was discharged from the RCH yesterday? (4 week tune-up)
Liz told me as that was a question I had for her about travelling os for a family holiday in the future. It was G's first tune-up so there were so many questions we were asking her. Travelling os was one question.
Hope your son has a great time ....... (I am sure he will!) ...... and that you have a break. Try to enjoy the time off and don't worry too much.
Cheers

Yes, that's it. Liz & Dr M wrote letters re meds he is carrying and one that the school insurance wanted. They did at first say that it was all covered but I pushed a little harder and it turned out they needed a letter to state that they didn't expect his pre existing condition would cause any problems. I suppose all insurances are different in what they require though.
He left on Tuesday and I spoke to him today. Says he has remembered to take everything, so I hope that's the case he is very used to me doing too much for him so it will be a good experience.
I'll keep you posted. _________________ Fran. Mum to Michael 19 (no cf) Tim 17 (no cf) Lachy 15 DDf508 |

Lachy rang yesterday. All good. He got confused about what day it was for his azithromax (Mon Weds Fri) so thinks he missed Wednesday, other than that he says he has taken all his meds, Yay.
They were going to Eurodisney yesterday and today are heading to Caen which is about 3 hours from Paris.

Lachy has rung a few times, all good, but very tired. They have a very full on schedule, very little down time as they are not in any one place long. My middle son is on the trip too so we have a pretty quiet house for a few weeks.

Hi All
Lachy rang again, not keen on the food in Turkey but no matter we can fatten him up when he gets back.
They are going to London today and fly back tomorrow, arriving in Brisbane on Sunday night.

Last update.
Lachy has fessed up that zero airway clearance was done on the trip. He sounds good tho, no coughing. Not that I am recommending anyone follow his lead.
He has definitely lost weight but not really an issue for him luckily. He has always been a very good weight for his height. He is a little fussy about what he eats so I shouldn't be surprised really. We had to call into a 24 hour McDonalds on the way home as he was starving.
So, overall a successful trip. A little airway clearance would have been good, so we'll be catching up on that over the next little while.
Thanks for reading ! _________________ Fran. Mum to Michael 19 (no cf) Tim 17 (no cf) Lachy 15 DDf508 |

Fantastic news about Lachy's OS Trip, Fran ......... but not the airway clearance bit! Typical of kids though.
As for the food, I have taken kids OS with all the schools I have taught at and there are always a few fussy eaters. They all manage despite the fact that they are not willing to try other foods.
Thes best thing is that he is home and well.
Cheers
