Little Day Out
02/Dec/2011
CFT announces exciting new program for families with young people living with Cystic Fibrosis - a Little Day Out - designed to be fun for the whole family. For more details, an information brochure and application form read on.
CFT are proud to present an exciting new program for members and their families
affected by Cystic Fibrosis, “Little Day Out”.
Through Little Day Out we hope to bring a little joy to families affected by CF
by providing them every year with opportunities to enjoy recreational activities
together. It will be up to each family to choose what they would like to do with
their Little Day Out ‘allocation’, and to maximise the benefit for the family member
with CF, we would encourage parents to engage their children in the choice of
activity, so that the Little Day Out that they share might be seen as coming from
that family member.
Some examples of the sort of activities that are suited to Little Day Out may be
tickets to a sporting event, a gourmet picnic hamper, movie passes or a contribution
towards a meal out in a restaurant, or even a night away. The annual allocation for
each eligible family is $100, which can be used for up to two events or activities
throughout the year. An information brochure on Little Day Out is available by clicking here.
It is easy to apply for your Little Day Out – simply fill in an application form
available here or email the CFT office at general@
cftas.org.au and a form will be sent to you. Vouchers for your chosen activity will be
mailed to you within four weeks.
Little Day Out replaces the movie tickets that CFT previously provided to members
at Christmas time and provides greater choice to families, as well as greater value.
While CFT will continue to distribute tickets to events like Circus Quirkus as they
become available, Little Day Out recognises that as young people grow, their tastes
in entertainment change.
This program has been made possible through the outstanding fundraising efforts
of staff of the Myer Hobart store, who selected CFT as their charity of choice
for fundraising over the past twelve months. We are extremely grateful for their
hard work and creativity in raising $8,000. This made the Myer Hobart store
staff the 6th biggest fundraisers of the 68 Myer stores around the country, and it
was matched dollar for dollar by the Myer Community Fund, resulting in a most
generous donation of $16,000. Given the difficult circumstances that staff of Myer
found themselves in following the tragic fire in 2007, it is heartening to see them
working so hard to support local organisations in such a positive way. As a small
charity that receives no Government funding, it would have been difficult to provide
this program to members without the generous support of the staff from Myer in
Hobart.
Applications for Little Day Out are now being accepted. As the program will
operate on a financial year basis all applications for 2011-12 need to be received by
CFT by 1st June, 2012.
This is an exciting program for our young members who are affected by Cystic
Fibrosis. It recognises that parenting and family life is challenging enough, without the
added pressure of living with a family member with a chronic illness. We are pleased
to be able to offer the opportunity for these families to spend some enjoyable,
quality time together in an activity of their choosing.
If you have any questions about the Little Day Out program please do not hesitate to contact our Executive Officer.
