The Australian Cystic Fibrosis Research Trust (ACFRT) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for PhD Top Up Scholarships for students starting their PhD work on cystic fibrosis (CF) related research in 2017. The Scholarships will be awarded for three years.
Because of improvements in the diagnosis, intervention and treatment of children affected with CF, many are now surviving well into adulthood. Unfortunately, there continues to be a shortage of researchers in the CF field, including those carrying out work relating to adults with CF.
The aim of the Top Up Scholarships is to stimulate scientists to maintain ongoing interest in CF research. Applications are particularly encouraged where research is being undertaken that has implications for adults living with CF.
The recipient of each Scholarship will be required to provide an annual report to ACFRT on their PhD research. In addition and where appropriate, the recipient may be asked to make a presentation at a Cystic Fibrosis Australia (CFA) conference (held every 2 years) in Australia.
The amount awarded under each ACFRT Top Up Scholarship will be $15,000. A $5,000 payment will be made to the Scholarship winner during each of the three years of their PhD work, subject to satisfactory progress with their research.
Applications for PhD Top Up Scholarships can be made by completing the Application Form. Please let your friends and colleagues know that this Scholarship is now available.
The closing date is 10 March 2017.
